NK-ADV03 : SECRETS OF EAST AFRICA
Two Nights Samburu
Depart JKIA airport Nairobi for Samburu. Check in at the lodge in time for lunch if you arrive in the morning and after proceed for the first of your game drives along the semi-deserted scorched lava plains. Some of Kenya's rarer species like the long-necked gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, beisa Oryx and blue-shanked Somali ostrich can be seen here. Because of the sheer rarity and beauty of the rugged terrain I suggest that you spend two nights here.
Accommodation options: Larsen’s tented camp (luxury small camp along the Ewaso Nyiro river), Samburu Serena (cottage style accommodation in a lodge), Samburu Intrepid (camp accommodation in touch with nature built like a tree house).
Mount Kenya (1 Night)
Leave Mt. Kenya/ Abadares for lake Nakuru after breakfast and proceed to lake Nakuru National park home of the Pink flamingo one a good day you can see up to a million lesser and greater of the flamingo family. Lake Nakuru also offers a wide variety of animals such as warthog, water-buck and large numbers of impala. Other slightly shyer residents include buffalo, Rothschild giraffe, eland, lion, leopard and black rhino. It goes without saying that this lush environment is most definitely a bird watchers paradise.
Accommodation Options: Abadares the ARC, Mount Kenya safari club (cottage style accommodation) or Mountain Lodge. All three are very luxurious
Lakes Nakuru and Bogoria (1 night)
Leave Lake Naukru National park after a relaxed morning game drive and sumptuous breakfast. The Great Rift Valley Lakes each have their own beauty and splendor each home to a variety of birds and small grazing animals and large hippo. Lake Naivasha and Elementaita are situated in what was known during the colonial times as the white highlands.
Today Naivasha offers you a walk around a small ranch where the Oscar winning film Out of Africa was shot along the lake as well as boat trips into the mist and an amazing golf course overlooking the whole of the Naivasha area.
For Longer more intense walking safaris Naivasha offers the Hells gate national park a parched landscape. Where large herds of herbivores are seen grazing.

Lake Naivasha and Elementaita (1 Night)

3 nights Masai Mara
Leave Nakuru after breakfast arriving in Masai Mara in about 3 hours. Masai Mara is by far Kenya's most famous of national parks, the long yellow savannah shimmering in the afternoon sun allowing the great cats to blend in with their surroundings. The flat plains provide the best chances of excellent photography, here in the Mara you will have the chance to view the ruminants of the huge herds of wildebeest remaining after the great migration, huge herds of elephant, cheetah, giraffe and many, many birds of prey. Masai mara is truly the best of Kenya as far as game viewing, photography and the chance of seeing a kill.
Accommodation: Mara Serena (the busiest of the Mara’s accommodation overlooking the Mara River), Fig tree (a tented camp in quaint settings perfect for a recluse looking for peace, tranquility and luxury). Governor’s luxury tented camp or Kichwa Tembo luxury tented camp.
Leave the Mara in the early hours of the morning arriving at the slopes of Kilimanjaro the world’s tallest freestanding mountain in time to see the early morning mists clear revealing in its snow capped, majestic gaze a beautiful expanse of savannah & acacia. The parks Centre has several spots where swamps attract buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, Masai giraffe, lion & cheetah, elephant, a variety of vulture and huge numbers of water birds.
Day 10 Cross into Tanzania
Leave Amboseli after breakfast for Tanzania into Arusha for lunch and overnight at Lake Manyara national park. Lake Manyara is situated on the western wall of the rift valley and the thick rain forest offers you a variety of birds and rare tree climbing lions.
Accommodation Options: Lake Manyara Serena or Manyara Sopa.
Lake Manyara to Serengeti
Drive across the Ngorogoro Conservation Area. Approximately 5hrs drive to the Serengeti National Park. Arrive at the Serena Wildlife Lodge/ Sopa afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at any of the lodges in the Serengeti
After an early morning game drive return for breakfast. Drive to Ngoro Ngoro again arriving at the Ngoro Ngoro Crater for a full day’s game viewing and picnic lunch.
